Recently, Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF) hosted its annual Car and Bike Show, which featured an Enhanced Visit, bringing together adults in custody (AICs) with their families and friends. This year’s event showcased inspiring participation from several community-focused groups dedicated to supporting recovery and reentry.

One such group, Freedom on the Inside, engaged with AICs, offering insight into recovery and the resources available through their network upon release. Their presence served as a beacon of hope, illustrating the path to sobriety and a brighter future. Another significant presence was the Christian Motorcyclists Association, who shared faith-based literature and powerful personal testimonies about overcoming addiction. Their message emphasized the strength found in spirituality and recovery. Additionally, the Resolute Clean and Free motorcycle group provided AICs with valuable information about the resources they offer for recovery and giving back to communities.

These groups are part of a nationwide network of resources that empower individuals on their journey to recovery, reminding them that they don’t have to walk this path alone. Among these resources is a program called Bridge the Gap, which connects individuals to recovery meetings both across the U.S. and internationally, ensuring continued support beyond the facility’s walls.

The members of each group came from diverse backgrounds, with many sharing their own personal stories of recovery. These testimonies resonated deeply with the AICs and the families and friends present at the Enhanced Visit. The event served as a powerful reminder that recovery is not only possible but also supported by a strong network of peers and resources. Peer support was a key theme, underscoring its crucial role in achieving and maintaining recovery success.

The day was filled with building new connections, as AICs, guests, and participants enjoyed quality time together over an amazing BBQ lunch, prepared and served by the WCCF Culinary Program and staff dining AICs. As always, AICs had the opportunity to vote for their favorite cars and bikes, with the top three in each category receiving a beautiful plaque to commemorate the day.
