Eastern Oregon Celebrates the Power of Education

EOCI grads look upward – the sky’s the limit!

On Friday, December 6, 2019 graduates of the Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) GED program walked in a commencement ceremony at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) and were recognized for their accomplishments.

Ms. Tammy Krawczyk, BMCC Dean of Instruction: Corrections and College Prep, welcomed attendees and graduates to the morning celebration. One of the adult in custody (AIC) graduates, Michael Robinson, said a few words as the event’s featured speaker–reflecting on the road that led him to education and the challenges he faced to get here. Robinson spoke on the sense of accomplishment he felt when he completed his first test as a GED student, and how that simple yet powerful feeling carried him through the program.

AIC Seth Silver completed his High School Diploma from Lowell High School. Way to go!

Outstanding Tutors, Pre-GED, GED, Adult Basic Education (ABE) students, and Student of the Quarter were also recognized during the ceremony. And of course, all the tutors in the BMCC/EOCI Education Department were thanks for going above and beyond for all of the AIC students housed at this facility. Congratulations grads!
